Game of Thrones

I have succumbed and am reading George RR Martin. Of course I knew about him and something of the controversial wait. But, I confess, it wasn’t until after I began to watch the HBO series that I bought the book. And it’s good. It’s ignore the housework, still in your pyjamas at midday good, but (and she ducks) is it really fantasy? Yes it’s in another land and there are a few dragons and the hints of other creatures and a tiny bit of mystical experience. But it would be as compelling without those elements. Perhaps there’s more to come or perhaps I’ve been spoilt by True-Blood style mystical creatures at every turn, but ….
